1111Yes, if the installer isn't able to successfully download and install the dictionaries, you can do so manually.

13 Versions 2.7.0 and newer use the dictionaries available from the [http://ftp.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/contrib/dictionaries/ openoffice download site].
14 You need to download the appropriate language zip file(s) (files are in the form of two-character language code followed by a two-character country code - United States English  is `en_US.zip`).
15 Once you have downloaded the dictionary zip file, you need to extract it to `<Pidgin Installation Directory>\spellcheck\share\enchant\myspell\` (create the directories if they don't exist already). If Pidgin is running, it needs to be restarted for new dictionaries to be used.
13Versions 2.7.0 and newer use the dictionaries available from the [http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/dictionaries openoffice extension download site].
14You need to download the appropriate language extension file(s) (files are openoffice extensions `*.oxt`, which are just zip files that contain additional data).
15Once you have downloaded a dictionary extension file, you can rename it so it has a `.zip` extension and then extract it to `<Pidgin Installation Directory>\spellcheck\share\enchant\myspell\` (create the directories if they don't exist already). If Pidgin is running, it needs to be restarted for new dictionaries to be used.

1717Versions older than 2.7.0 use Aspell; you can download both the Aspell core and a dictionary from [http://aspell.net/win32 the win32 Aspell website].
